Canadian Innovation Exchange Announces Canada’s 20 Hottest Innovative Companies

CIX Top 20 showcases Canada’s elite in information and communication technology and digital media

TORONTO, ON – Tuesday November 6, 2012 – In anticipation of the Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) annual forum, the CIX Top 20 companies were revealed in Toronto today. The finalists, chosen by a selection committee of industry experts, were hand-picked from a list of companies from across the country and will be featured in live showcases at CIX’s annual event to be held at the MaRS Discovery District on November 27 in Toronto.
The CIX Top 20 has been an important indicator of Canada’s best emerging technology companies. Previous CIX Top 20 finalists have included:

  • Rypple – Acquired by salesforce
  • Tungle – Acquired by RIM
  • Adenyo – Acquired by Motricity
  • Wave Accounting – Raised $12M through Social+Capital Partnerships, Charles River Ventures and OMERS Ventures

"2011 was a great year for Wattpad and CIX provided our company with a platform to bring forth our unique contribution to the digital, communications and technology world”, Allen Lau, CEO of Wattpad said. “Being a CIX 20 winner played an integral part in our company’s success. CIX helped raise our organization’s profile on a national level and helped jumpstart our new fundraising round."

CIX 2012 features interactive sessions led by some of Canada’s top business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs in information and communication technology and digital media. About Canadian Innovation Exchange
The Canadian Innovation Exchange (CIX) is a showcase for great Canadian innovation while catalyzing strategic relationships and transactions across this dynamic sector. CIX will be attended by the people behind the innovative technologies: entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, service providers, government and media. Its objective is to bring together the key leaders and protagonists of technology-based innovation in order to learn from each other and to showcase and celebrate the tremendous innovative products, services and technologies that exist today and are providing the fuel for our economy to grow. 2012’s selection committee was once again very impressed with the high quality of companies being created by Canadian entrepreneurs. Many of this year’s applicants held a promising chance in making the Top 20 and choosing the finalists is always a difficult choice. We would like to thank all of the companies who applied to CIX and look forward to seeing everyone on November 27.
